New York, NY – The Art Students League of New York is proud to present the annual Juried Selection Exhibition, which features juror-selected works from the Student Salons, representing the highest caliber work being produced by League artists today. This exhibition celebrates the League’s students and the community’s commitment to artmaking. Stemming from the selections made by the renowned jurors of the Student Salons, the works on view are curated by the League’s Gallery Director and Curator Ksenia Nouril, PhD.
Student Salons is an annual series of exhibitions featuring current or recent student work across all disciplines taught at the League. The Student Salons are open to any student who chooses to display their work. Juried by invited guests — prominent artists, curators, or scholars within the artworld — the Juried Selection exhibition presents artwork chosen from the open Student Salons and represent the independent jurors’ favorite student artworks. Here, the best of the best come together in one exhibition, providing a picture of the League today.

About the curator
Ksenia Nouril has been the Gallery Director and Curator of Exhibitions and Programs at the Art Students League of New York since September 2022. Previously, Nouril was the Jensen Bryan Curator at The Print Center (Philadelphia, PA). She also has worked at the Bruce Museum (Greenwich, CT); Lower East Side Printshop (New York, NY); Museum of Modern Art (New York, NY); and Zimmerli Art Museum (New Brunswick, New Jersey). Nouril is coeditor of and contributor to Carmen Winant: A Brand New End (The Print Center, 2022); editor of and contributor to Ilya Kabakov and Viktor Pivovarov: Stories About Ourselves (Rutgers University Press, 2019); and co-editor of and contributor to Art and Theory of Post-1989 Central and Eastern Europe: A Critical Anthology (MoMA, 2018). Her research has been published in numerous exhibition catalogues and magazines worldwide. Nouril received her BA in Art History from New York University and her MA and PhD in Art History from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, New Brunswick.
The Art Students League of New York was founded in 1875 by students breaking away from the National Academy of Design. That independent spirit remains at The League today, where students pursue their work unconstrained by dogma, politics, or burdensome tuition. We educate students in the language and process of making art in an environment where anyone who wishes to pursue arts education can realize his or her full potential. The League fulfills this mission by offering affordable, high-quality education and instruction in painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpture, and assemblage. Artists who have studied at the League include Georgia O'Keeffe, Norman Lewis, Robert Rauschenberg, Emilio Sanchez, Yayoi Kusama, and Ai-Weiwei, among others.
